Today I noticed some chicken poop on outside wall of coop. Must be small opening beneath roof extension. Will take care of that in the morning while the girls free range. They won't be happy to lose their roosting spot in roof extension. But momma wants them safe.
I have notified store customer service and they announce over speakers to person left dog in vehicle type and license number to please report to service desk. One lady was so nasty I called our animal shelter and was told they take calls seriously they requested license number and told me...
I am so worried about weasels and minks. I never want to go out to the coop and find one of my girls injured by something I should have prevented. I lost a rooster to a hawk because I was not outside when they were free ranging.
I lost my favorite rooster a week ago to a very large red tailed hawk. It snapped the roosters neck. Four crows alerted us, not the chickens. My husband ran outside and the hawk was sitting in the driveway, it took a moment to get off the ground it was so big. The crows chased it off. I'm...
I am not adding a design today, just a note. In all the coop plans I viewed and runs I was not fortunate enough to come across one that stressed the importance of incorporating a dust bath. I live in Michigan and am concerned about my chickens being able to cleanse themselves in the winter so...
I am so thankful for Backyard Chickens. I just picked up my 10 week old Easter Egger and felt this lump, being a Nurse it felt like a very large cyst. To come in the house, search it and find within a minute that it is perfectly normal saved me from worrying. Thanks everyone!!!!!
Just noted the black one with white dot. I bought a black sex link pullet like that and at eight weeks he is a beautiful black and white rooster I think. I am new at this and apparently so was the girl at the feed store. Lol
I'm new too. But that little one looks like my Easter egger. One of mine at seven weeks has coloring like pheasant and the other two are now black and white. As hatchlings they looked like little owls.
