I have 2 Light Brahmas, 1 Jersey Giant, 2 Easter Eggers and 1 Aracauna for a total of 6.
Based on past couple threads the grand total has gone astray so I'm not sure where we are....
I have a 9 month old Barred Rock hen-she had been pecked at by another hen so we wanted to put some Blue Kote on her comb and head. When we did, she shook her head and got some in her eye! Her eyelid is blue now as are the corners of her eye. We tried to rinse out with a bit of water but I...
Thanks to everyone for their responses. Here she is.....as far as I know she's an EE.

I guess I just got one that doesn't lay pretty eggs. Oh well, she's a great chicken anyway.
I just went outside to check on them and sure enough one of them was up on the roost, flew down to see me and then flew back to the roost. But will they still be able to fly up there when they're full grown?
That sounds like it might work. We put a piece of really cheap vinyl down to make it easier to wipe up a mess and keep liquid from rotting the wood floor.
I need a ladder so my chicks can get to their roost when they're ready. They are 5 and 1/2 weeks old and have been out in the coop now for two days. How far apart should the rungs be and at what angle? I want it to be easy for them to get up there. Their roost is about 2 ft from the...
This seems like a silly question and my husband thinks I'm nuts because chickens are supposed to live outside but I'm worried about my chicks getting rained on and then getting sick. They just got moved outside on Wednesday to the coop/run. They are now 5 and 1/2 weeks old. It's been raining...
Mine were in a similar setup and around 4 weeks old were going stir crazy and I only had four. I think they were bored and they started to drive me nuts because they started to get really messy and destructive. Within a few days they had started to destroy the box--by repeatedly spilling...
Mine came from Meyer-no issues. I ordered four and Meyer called me on a Monday to tell me they were getting my order ready and I got them on Wednesday early afternoon. All arrived healthy and so far they're doing great...they're 5 weeks old now. I would order from Meyer again.
This is my Easter Egger at 4 weeks old. From what I can see in the picture yours looks a lot like mine did in the beginning....maybe this will give you an idea.
Very cute chicks!
