How to make sure my Muscovy Duckling isn't lonely

Hello! My name is Nicole. I appreciate @amiga tagging me in this post, so maybe I can help you with the situation you're in. It has been over a year since I have been on BYC. My duck is named Quackers, and she will be two years old in June. I got her when I was 12 years old, and I am 14...

The Vengeance Of The Soft Shells

Amiga! I can not tell you how thrilled I am to hear from my BYC family again. I've missed you all so very dearly. I appreciate all of the hard work and long nights you've put into me and my baby. What process did you use to make her go broody? Did you just bring her inside? For how long...

The Vengeance Of The Soft Shells

I'm sorry about that. It's terrible to have to watch your babies go and not be able to stop it. I felt so helpless when Quackers was sick. It was miserable. Fingers crossed that all of our birdies feathers remain unruffled, so to speak. :P

Good luck with your ducks as well, have any of yours had Peritonitis before? It's horrible.

The Vengeance Of The Soft Shells

I'm praying that it doesn't happen again. The shells on her softies are terribly thin, it's scary.

The Vengeance Of The Soft Shells

Nice to see you as well Miss Lydia :3 Quackers has been laying two eggs a day for the past three days. One soft, one hard. Two days ago she started acting funny, slightly lethargic. I freaked out, knowing the possibility of a recurrence of EYT. I brought her inside and she slept in my room...

The Vengeance Of The Soft Shells

I called North State Animal Hospital (The vet that I took Quackers to) and they said, unfortunately, Dr. Whittington won't be in until Monday. I have to wait until then to talk to him. Any suggestions in the meantime?

The Vengeance Of The Soft Shells

Hola familia! Miss me? I sure missed y'all! Quackers has been doing fine by the way. She has been doing great actually, until last week that is. The soft shelled eggs have returned. She is eating DuMor poultry layer, oyster shells, and her prescribed B3, calcium, and phosphate...

    rescue duck

Quackers has been great and healthy, I've been taking care of her lol. She sure is a handful. I didn't think, when I first got her, that she would be so much work. She is well worth it though. She chases anyone shorter than me and screams at anyone that's taller than me. I'm the only person...

She looks like a black Swedish mix. That's my guess since my black Swedish looks so much like that, despite the white on the head and beak. Does she/he get on well with the chickens? Just curious. You might hear a lot of people tell you that she needs a friend- while true of some some- was...

URGENT~ SOFT SHELLED EGGS AND A LETHARGIC DUCK!!!

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/876703/happy-easter I posted this at Easter. I am thanking God, she is all better. I still have to give her oyster shells, dark leafy greens, and her B3, phosphate, calcium supplement everyday with her food. Me and her are closer than ever now. And guess...

    HAPPY EASTER!!!

That's what I thought. I use the DuMOR poultry layer. I was guessing that since the shells on duck eggs are so much thicker than chicken eggs, that there was the right amount of calcium for chickens but not quite enough for ducks. Quackers laid another soft shelled egg the other day and since...
