I have never had any diseases, except I bought silkie chicks and about a month or two later (after I already added my silkies with the rest of my flock) the person I got them from said that they were hatched from hens with mereks and she doesn't know if they have it so all my chickens have been...
I have a young rooster that was laying in the nesting box for probably 4-5 days. I listed him for sale because I thought he had a bad habit. I tried getting him out and he coo-ed at me and I realized he can't walk. When he lays down, he has to use his wings to keep up straight and not fall over...
So what do I do with all of them? I have 9 and I spend like $40 on all of them. I don't want to loose all that money but I incubate my eggs and so I can't have diseases in my flock. I don't want to kill them either but I don't have another pen for them. I was so excited about my silkies:(
Can I treat for the mycoplasma sinoviae if I'm not sure if they have it? Like can I treat my flock and the chicks that are carriers and will they all be fine?
Thank you, that was very helpful. So pretty much, I shouldn't add these chicks to the rest of my flock? They are in our garage together and my flock is out in a big shed that we converted to a coop
Okay so I bought chicks that were mixed colored silkies for $3 a piece from someone who bred them and I don't usually spend that much if they aren't vaccinated, but that was the only place I could find silkies. This person came out and said their flock had mereks disease and mycoplasma synoviae...
Is there any cost-effective way I can deworming my chicken flock? I have recently taken in 14 chickens and I think they brought in worms. I was looking for something easy that doesn't cost too much hat I can just throw in the coop or something and they can all eat it to get rid of the worms?
Okay, one more question: so the chick's beak is not perfectly alined. So I'm not sure how that will effect its eating. It isn't very far off so I'm sure it can still eat, it just may be a bit difficult. Should I start it off with chick food or should I make up some plain oatmeal and let it cool...
Okay, it can't stand on its own so should I just dip it's beak? Also, it's been sleeping for like an hour an a half, so should I wake it up to get it to drink or watch it and get it to drink when it wakes up?
I had just helped my chick get out of the egg this morning because it had been 18 hours and the chick had been making no progress in getting out of the egg and it had stopped chirping which had worried me. When I got it out, there was blood in the egg and it came from the back of it. There is a...
I bought an incubator in December and I have just now opened it because my hens are now laying and we have a few roosters in with them. I can't find the guide that came with it anywhere. I have looked everywhere and I tried looking online to find it and I can't. Does anyone have this incubator...
