    Duck eye problem

This is the same condition my drake had. I treated with antibiotics and eye drops from the vet but was unable to save his sight (especially after the bubble popped after which it is vital to use some firm of eye drop to keep infection at bay). With tge eye drops both eyes healed fine but he is...

    Duck eye problem

Barnyard 70, that was my suspicions also but have been treating with baytrill 10 oral for a week and there is no change to the eyes condition. I usually find that mycoplasma brings out fluid bubbles on the surface of the eye whereas this is actually a bubble forming in the surface of the eye...

    Duck eye problem

I know this thread has been dead for a while but I just wondered if you ever found out the cause, and ask what happened with your duck, mine has a similar sounding problem with a large bubble formed on the eye. Cheers, Phil

    identify wood duck eggs

Hello all, I currently keep a pair of wood ducks in with my call ducks. I wss hopping to get them to breed this year and have noticed some eggs being laid in their nest boxes. Just wanted to ask if wood duck eggs are thiner and slightly longer than the usual duck egg. If so then I think I'm...

    call duck candling

The embry or yolk area is definitely darker/larger than an unincubated egg. Could my lamp be too bright?

    call duck candling

I have hatchef calls a few times but have never candled during the incubation. Today I did and found the image below with a dark embryo area. I thought this was a bit small for 18 days and wondered if anyone had any thoughts? (Most of them are the same)

Duckling with swollen foot - any suggestions?

Katie, I don't think this had anything to do with ammonia but just seemed to happen. In the end we just rubbed on savlon cream and tried to keep it protected. The blisters ended up bursting and the webbing split somewhat but other than that there was no other problems. He is still missing some...

    2 incubator staggered hatch

Hello all, I'm starting to contemplate staggered hatching with one large incubator for incubation and a smaller one for hatching. I was just wondering about egg turning during setting - obviously all but the first egg batch will be turned during the setting process as previous eggs will need...

Duckling with swollen foot - any suggestions?

Many thanks Lydia, Will do as advised - one of the blisters has popped but I will keep applying salve to try and avoid infection. Have you any impression on how long this process may take? Thanks again, Phil P.S. I'll keep you informed as to how we get on

Duckling with swollen foot - any suggestions?

Yes - definitely fluid filled. He is still eating/drinking and in good spirits, I've been applying savlon cream to keep any infection at bay and am hoping that the fluid will be reabsorbed.

Duckling with swollen foot - any suggestions?

Here is a photo, he has been eating and drinking this afternoon but stills seems uncomfortable. Sorry for the poor photo quality but you should be able to make out the bubble like swelling of the webbing. Cheers
