I plan to get it all prettied up and the critters crawling within days of getting my keys. I have 5 different breeds of various aged chicks getting ready to go and two more breeds to get.

I've been here since 2005, moving about ten miles to a 5 acre mini farm set up. Here's the coop, it opens up to half an acre fenced in. Cant wait to get set up

I'm about to move this week or next, so I'm in the waiting boat too. Luckily there's a coop ready and waiting with only minor things needed. Waiting is worse than the building part by far

Welcome to Oklahoma and the byc. That's a good looking start to a coop, I'll be waiting for those finished product pictures. A nice coop is very enjoyable and makes life with chickens easier

You sure lucked out with a landlord like that, doesn't get much better unless you own your own home.

Watch the Fayetteville Craigslist and OKC Craigslist if you are not already. I see the breed you want constantly . Colors and age vary. Sand springs has a 3 year old yesterday posted. Not sure if he is good for your color request though. Good luck on your search, my search is like looking for...

Ok, first off I'm located northeast Oklahoma and I've been switching from game chickens to layers/ dual use. I am having a difficult time tracking down sources of Light Sussex chickens. I was hoping that someone might just happen to know somebody that has a few or even a pair and I'll raise...

    Brooder???

Where the pen is open wire on bottom, I have used a solid floor under the wire for easy cleaning. A length of plywood cut to fit makes a floor to walk on and just lower the plywood down and clean everything. When done replace board and a good cleaning is done in minutes without reaching inside...

Needing thoughts on what is needed for my new coop

My game chickens I had were another world compared to these layers. They would not stay under a roof except in the morning on foggy days and the roosts better be at the ceiling. The top hens in the flock would roost higher than all others even if it meant trying to stand in anothers head

Needing thoughts on what is needed for my new coop

I guess what I'm asking is just lay the roost flat on the poop board? That's what it looks like but coming from my game chickens they would have a fit if there was not higher spots

There is wire holding the roosts up. how low should they sit? It looked to me that they would sit flat on the nest boxes if let down

Needing thoughts on what is needed for my new coop

Oh and I have usually kept 20 to 30 birds at one time. Not sure how many I'll try for now. Oops I lied, I found one of the outside that I did not take

Needing thoughts on what is needed for my new coop

I took the picture and haven't started using it till yesterday. Yes wire is holding them all up. How do those roosts sit for those birds to use? 17 nest boxes were counted, I'm not moved in yet so other pictures have to wait till we get the keys (any day now) I'm not sure how old it is, but...
