Thank you all for your tips and kind words.
Sadly, we lost our girl Saturday around 2pm and think it was due to an impacted egg. We had tried the warm bath and she passed a little of what we think was the egg fluid, but no shell. Maybe it was infection--not sure. I spoke to a vet and they...
Our 1 year old Welsummer was laying on the floor of the coop this morning. She has no visible injuries but a little (few tablespoons) of liquid came out of her vent when she was picked up. She is resting on a blanket inside by the fire breathing slowly. She doesn't respond to much and hasn't...
When you say "came out" did you have to squeeze the eye or did it just come out on it's own? I hate to bother her because she doesn't seem to notice the bump yet. I would hate for her to start scratching at it because I irritate it.
I live in the hot, humid, south and Caledonia loves to eat palmetto bugs (aka roaches). Do you think this is chicken eye worm and if so, does VetRX really work or do I need to get her to the vet?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

They have just started crowing and are healthy birds that are used to having some room to run. They are almost 4 months old and...
Welcome from Charleston, SC where I am bringing the country to the burbs! I have 8 barnyard specials and hopefully 2 of them are Easter Eggers (I'll know for sure once the eggs start coming in a few months). I look forward to seeing pictures of your new babies.
Cheers
Great minds must think alike--or those playhouse coops are just so cute that everyone wants one. We have been working on our playhouse knock-off for a couple of weekends now and have a similar footprint and material plan. I will post pics and dimensions tomorrow.
We are going for the raccoon...
Thank you all for the welcome messages and the tips. They are doing a little better and have perked up a bit. Both are able to stand on one leg and hop around some. I did grind their food up a little with the coffee mill and they seem happier with that.
Hello! I'm just getting started with my flock and I am already obsessed. I've been spending way too much time on this great site and with my chicks. Right now I have a mixture of 10 ranging from 1 day old to 15 days old in boxes in my tiny bathroom. I got them all locally and so far, no two...
Hello from South Carolina...I've been getting lots of good information from BYC and this is my first post. Thank you in advance for any advice. I just got 10 baby chicks--these are my first.
Two of the newest are having problems getting around. I think one has a broken leg and the other...
