I bought two chickens yesterday to increase the flock for my rooster. We had 8 hens and 8 rosters, but lost a few (eyp, egg bound, culling, and gave some away) including my prized broody (tumor) that kept the flock going. Anyways, I bought these two comets on good faith from the owner.
I didn't...
He looks very similar to mine. I thought he was a silkie egg that hatched until I realized he only had 4 toes. I'm pretty sure mine is a booted bantam. He is 1 year old now.
Last spring, one of mine went broody. We broke her of it after a few days. A month later, same thing. Then, again the next month. We finally let her sit on some fertalized eggs and have her raise the chicks.
It's been a year since then and she shows no sign of ever going broody again.

I've done some reading, and it seems you can treat for coccidiosis even if you're unsure of the diagnosis, with no side effects. Here's a link from a previous poster with some responses on corid (amprolium)...
The behavior, eating, and dehydration
with blood in the stool makes me think it could be Coccidiosis.
@Wyorp Rock has helped me in the past and seems pretty knowledgeable, any ideas?
Has her behavior changed? (Lethargic, distant from flock, etc) What does her poop look like? Any outward signs, i.e. vent gleet? Was she laying regularly and suddenly stopped or did it become sporadic, with some soft shelled or deformed weak egg shells?
Wow, spot on. Thanks for the article. My vet confirmed this, thinking the clump contains yolk due to her recent history/ diagnosis of EYP.
We normally process our chickens, but this one has been a good pet and we decided we're not going to do that with her.
I started her back on antibiotics...
My chicken has EYP. She was on antibiotics not too long ago and we had some fluid drained. She's been doing fine, but recently she has gotten really bad vent gleet. I've been been giving her probiotics the last few days, no change yet. However, she has pooped out these hard yellow fatty tumor...
Thank you for the suggestions!
I took your wet food idea a step further and made it liquid enough for a syringe, but I had a hard time getting her to swallow until I found something she would nibble on her own. She ended up being interested in a mashed tomato of all things. For the last two...
Hey Hennyhoneys. I have the same issue with my chicken who we think has EYP. Today is day 4 without food.
Were you able to tube feed your chicken? If so, what did you feed her and how did you do it?
Hey all. I posted a thread on Sunday about my chicken Julia. I ended up taking her to a vet and we're 99% sure she has EYP. She is on day two of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. We drained almost a cup of fluids out of her. The fluids were on the thicker side. She is of course drinking a lot...
Wow great video. Thank you! The vet thinks EYP due to her reproductive history. I got antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. Still not eating or drinking, but she let me use the syringe to give her meds and water.
For some reason, the vet didn't drain the fluid. I'll probably call them when...
