    Day 18 & I hear peeping-normal?.....

    Is that normal? First time incubating- I've heard peeping inside an egg on the day it hatched out....what's the deal with peeping on day 18?

    cuckoo maran= white legs barred rocks= yellow legs i have both and that's the only way i can tell them apart

    I have one Cuckoo that came from McMurray and the eggs are darker than the other hens but they're not really dark like choc.

    I think I'll just let them be. However, how do I make sure she's getting off to eat and poo? They do have water & feed in the coop with them. AND if all three hens hatch chicks after I move them to a safe area can all 3 hens be in it with the chicks or do I do an area for each hen?

    Iridecent spot on my POLISH TOP HAT's head. What is it?

    My polish top hat hens have a white-ish blue iridecent spot on each side of their heads. They are sort of behind the eyes but lower. Does anyone know what these are?

    So my chix eggs have a regular egg white but then in between that and the yolk is a denser/much thicker white. Is this due to them being fertile?We do have roos but I collect the eggs 3x/day. Or is it just how "real eggs" (non-store bought) are? First time with home layed eggs so I have not a clue.

    WOW, my hens (which started laying in Oct) are laying tons of double yolkers. I was very surprised by this.
