i have just six buff orpingtons that i got on straight run. i came out 3 and 3 pretty sure.Noticed the combs on 3 of them is substancially larger than the other 3, After that, it seemed in the next 3 weeks the larger comb birds are growing at a little faster rate. Im assuming the larger comb...

    Silkies question

Just a quick question to my avid poultry friends. I have found a person selling silkies. Is $5 about the right price range for 2 month old silkies.? Just love the looks of them and am considering adding a few to my flock (after the wife and I do the chicken math) ha. I now have room for a couple...

Need an opinion on some girls please.

i really appreciate everyones input. It make my flock even more diversified and i like that. Got to pull the positives out of all situations. Explained to my wife chicken math today. Now she sees the light. What started out as 5 pullets, then 24 more, then 6, then 2 = 12? YES!

In the order were supposed to be 6 Black Orpingtons. Out of the six, two are nearly all black, however there are four that look like this one. Can...

Can poisions be passed through to the egg?

I dont know for sure but i would say that if your concerned about that then maybe that should be a red flag. I think you have valid point though. I had that problem 8 or 9 years ago with my girls wandering. I eventually started letting them out later in the evening so they wouldnt have as much...

I want four hens. Should I start with two or four pullets?

i also agree. 4 at the same time from the same hatchery. Disease is an ugly thing. 1 sick chick will inherintly spread it quick. i have 5 different breed and have seen the pecking order get established but no major violence. Good luck
