I guess you hit the nail on the head. They have been getting more scratch grains because the love it and I love to spoil them. I thought it was healthy for them so no harm done. I will cut back on the scratech grains for awhile. Thanks. Another example of me posting a questions and getting...
Thanks, I have been giving them scratch grains and egg laying mash. I'll get some oyster shells as well but in the past they have avoided eating them. They are free range so I figured they got enough protine. I also give them any eggs that are to dirty or broken fried up (scramblled eggs) for...
I have free range chickens. Yesterday I noticed two of them sneezing. They seemed fine except for the sneezing. Today I found one of the two dead. The other is still sneezing and sticking closer to the coop but seems fine. Does anyone have any ideas what this is? Can I still use the eggs...
I only have 15 birds and they never sit on their eggs. I was told it's a Polish Chicken thing. The weather in Wiscsonsin has been so cold the last few days they are freezing pretty quickly. I work all day so I get them as soon as I get home.
I think the idea of cooking them up and feeding...
I have part polish chickens and they don't sit on their eggs. It's so cold right now that when I get the eggs some are actually partially froze. I assume I can't keep them for eating but hate to just throw them away. Any ideas on what I could use them for?
I wash my eggs when I wash my hands after collecting. I use antibacterial soap. No one ever told me to do this but I thought it would be a good idea. I would love to see other suggestions from more experienced people than myself.
Never thought of that. Your right. I'll need to cut back on the bread and find some protein treats. Any good cheap ideas? Day old bread was great from Walmart. I'm sure I'll get some Venison after deer hunting. Any other good ideas?
I feed them food from a local feed store that states it enhances egg production. I also give them scratch that has corn and oats in it and a little old bread each night. They seem to love the bread the most. Is the bread ok for them?
Thanks for everyone who posted advice. I appreciate it.
I feed my Chickens food to enhance Egg production. Can I continue this during the winter to keep my supply of eggs or is it best to stop for a few months? I live in Wisconsin.
Thanks for your opinion.
I have a farm animal rescue and I took in a beautiful Rooster tonight. He seems to be about a year old. If you are interested and are in my area let me know. Good home only. Must agree no butchering allowed and must be in my area to pick up. I would love to keep him but I already have a...
I have a rooster that I hatched myself. He was fine until this last weekend. He just started "servicing" my hens so I think he is getting protective. Any suggestions on giving my rooter an attitude adjustment nicely?
