Someone like minded! I've got to the dirt stage but can't plant anything because they dig too much and I have a black thumb. I was looking up info on vivarium site. I want to make a whole indoor set up. Pic please if you can.:love:wee:woot
Thank you I will stop worrying. Just got to figure out what to do about the water freezing in winter then come up plans for a modular predator proof aviary.
Figured I would get more views. Except a few differences don't see why deworming techniques wouldn't be the same. Just think of them as little chicken.
So I finally realized trying to keep quail in the house is not feasible and I wanted them to live a semi natural life anyway. My plan now is to have them outside. I read a few post about them catching worms. I don't like chemical and I probably won't eat anything that come from them if I had to...
I've been trying to find specifics on how to optimize breeding but have not had the greatest luck. There are a lot of factors: How many birds you start out with, How related they were in the first place, Which ones you pick to breed together and How long you keeping going until you add something...
Depends on what your looking for. I've been researching for months now on Japanese quail.

You should be able to tell by the breast feather. I believe red/orange means male and speckled means female. You should see it easily on the wild type if they are old enough. Not sure about the other colors they come in. I don't have any yet but I been reading up.
I read post like that where their rabbit will did a borrow but never bother digging their way out of the pen. I bet they know they get the best of both worlds. :) As long as I keep it predator proof at least. >.< Very worried about that..
I know not chickens but some things should stay the same right? I'm worried about the extremes of temperate where I live up north.
I was reading about this where you make artificial dirt borrows:

I want to simplify it by having basically...
Does anyone still raise pigeons that look like rock pigeons/doves? I not in love will all the fancy varies and I can't just go out an catch a feral one.
Are you looking at those two just because of their size? In the end you might just want to go with another breed since they still need quite a bit of space to have a small herd of them. Shearing sounded like too much work for me to even try so I started looking up hair sheep. If your heart is...
1) I know rabbits have low fat but can you feed them to have some fat before slaughter or would that take too much feed? I know your not suppose to keep breeders/pets overweight.
2) Can anyone point me towards info on how to line breed generations of rabbits. I'm not planning on only doing...
