One of our chickens has been sneezing for a while now it seems and a couple weeks ago I noticed she was wheezing when she breathes; it’s sounds raspy like when you have a chest cold. I took a video today and she sounds worse than usual:
However, she's otherwise acting totally normal, she's not...
@azygous Not specifically. Their run is mostly dirt, so we don't put out grit usually, but we could for her.
@Artichoke Lover Ok. Yes, I think it is at this point.
She got her last dose of miconazole this morning.
She is looking much better. Her color is back and she's not acting like she feels badly anymore. Her crop is much smaller (the crop bra really isn't holding anything now) and now it's hard. What does that mean?
Also, when can we go back to...
Ok, that's good to know, thanks.
She ended up eating it off my finer. It's the nutri-drench she hated.
Are there any brand names or places to buy tablet forms you can recommend?
Last night, we put her in the coop early because we were going out to dinner, thinking she would stay there...
@azygous
Do you just squirt it straight out of the tube? If so, how do you measure? Could I use a syringe to give it to her? How many ml/cc would it be? I just bought a 1.5 oz tube of 2% miconazole.
They only had powder at the store. I saw someone on here say that yogurt wasn't the best to give...
Would it be bad to introduce multiple different treatments at once for sour crop?
One of our chickens had a crop blockage last year and eventually recovered after expensive vet treatment and multiple times a day of massages and medication and I think she came out of it with a slow crop...
Ok, we just bought some Feather Fixer and put it out there for them and I put apple cider vinegar in their water. Her crop was small and hard this morning and she's still otherwise behaving normally. Hopefully the extra protein will help her finish molting so she can stay warm.
We just had our first snow of the winter and our welsummer, Penny, is still in the middle of molting. Our other chickens have almost entirely grown in their new feathers, but hers are still scraggly. She can't even fly up to roost at night (she'll try but just crash her face or neck into the...
We've gotten all our breed for their novelty looks or eggs colors. I'd say some of the prettiest we've had are Swedish Flower, Speckled Sussex, Blue Double-Laced Barnevelder (she tended to be broody). We also had a pretty splash Marans rooster and we currently have a cute little Cream Legbar who...
I wanted to post some of our designs for future reference since it was hard to find a lot of information about making a crop bra. Our speckled sussex had some kind of crop blockage starting back in March. She seems to be doing ok now without the crop bra; we just don't let her free range for too...
We're in Frederick County and have a chicken who may need surgery to remove a blockage from her crop. Does anyone know of any vets or even experienced chicken owners nearby (within like an hour) who could do this?
Does anyone know of any near Frederick County, MD?
We took one of our chickens today to NorthPaws Animal Hospital in Hagerstown, MD and the vet there thought she might need surgery to remove a mat of grass or straw from her crop, but they said it would cost over $300 which is a lot of money for...
We put a trail cam outside our coop and found that crows were stealing our eggs. We noticed when I put a couple wooden eggs in the nesting box to encourage our new chickens to lay there and they disappeared. We have occasionally found some eggshell bits in the yard, but there was no trace of...
