MARYLAND THREAD!

I’m on the Eastern Shore, near Pocomoke, and I’m selling off most of my Phoenix flocks. I breed mostly silver, also some blue silver, golden, blue golden, a few splash. We have produced some very very nice birds with 12”+ saddles and 36”+ tails in first year. I have chicks, young birds and up to 3 years old. Many proven breeders. Most are in breeding pens or a mixed variety flock so even though the tails aren’t as long as could be, the saddles will show the growth. Pics are an example of my birds.

Available roosters
8 month golden
2 year blue gold breeder
14 month golden breeder
3 year golden splash breeder
7 month silver
8 month red splash
9 month silver
2 year blue gold breeder
14 month blue silver
8 week old cockerels- Silver, Golden, Blue Silver, Blue Golden

I can get pics of specific birds you are interested in. Any rooster can be paired with a hen. Pickup Pocomoke, MD or ESVA. We are VA NPIP & AI clean. Serious inquiries only.
Are any of these still available?

We're in Frederick County and have a chicken who may need surgery to remove a blockage from her crop. Does anyone know of any vets or even experienced chicken owners nearby (within like an hour) who could do this?

Hey guys, I have a friend who is new to peeps, she just hatched a few eggs of mine 2 weeks ago. She's wanting some lavender orpingtons, but is having trouble finding them. We are in OC, is there anyone close who has some hatching eggs or day olds?

Check out Maryland Avian and Exotics Veterinary Care in Rockville MD. They do work on most birds.

YAY I called our local zoning office and apparently keeping chickens, etc is perfectly legal here R-80 YESSSSS! I'm not gonna even try to keep a rooster but at least I know we can keep them without getting in trouble,I was wondering too because we saw so many houses nearby with chicken houses. And wait how does charles county have such a weird law? People have been keeping chickens there for years and theres even a poultry farm there weird.

Just in case we're probably gonna grow some bamboo along our privacy fence so the neighbors can't look over and try to find a reason to complain.
I’m in an R-80 zone in Prince George county Maryland and I was told I cannot have any chickens and I don’t understand because there is more than enough room for chickens. Does anyone know if I was given the wrong information or what happens if I keep them illegal I only wanted four hens for my family? Or any ideas on places I can move That are chicken friendly we moved from ca and just assumed chickens are allowed. I’m sorry to reply here but I got so excited when I saw my r-80 zone I’m just hoping there is a way to fight it

VERY COOL! One word of advice, though, on your privacy screen ... please DON'T use bamboo! It's invasive and REALLY hard to control once it gets established ... and it establishes as easily as falling off a log ... or falling off a bamboo branch, because every single piece that falls will sprout a new plant! Unless you a have a couple of pandas there to eat the bamboo down every day, you'll be grateful in five or six years!
Instead of bamboo, look into a row of pine trees. You'll not only have a great, year-round privacy screen, but you'll have a ready supply of FREE coop and run bedding right next to your set-up. Pine needles are the best!

EDIT to add: Oh JHEESH! I just realized that I responded to a really old post! I'm gonna leave it, though, 'cause I think the bamboo warning is still a good one ... and the free pine bedding is a bonus for anyone!

Check your deed. There may be a covenant in there barring "poultry and goats." That was a big thing back in the 60's & 70's. Since times have changed, there may be a way to get that removed.

Ummm ... I don't want to advocate sneakiness, but I was once told (I won't tell by whom ...) that it is often wiser - and better - to ask forgiveness rather than permission ... just sayin'
If you have a youngster of 4H age (under 18, as of Jan 1, 2020) you can also apply for an exception. Check with your Agricultural Extension Office. for details ... and wash your hands!
