Hmmm? So the hatcheries don't care because they figure the store will get the complaints? That's not very ethical. When ever I hear a complaint. I recommend they find out which hatchery is used. Call hatchery. And see what they say. Review accordingly. Hatcheries should be held accountable if...
Yes including TSC, by the time you know you got roosters they are quite grown. Food and time went into them. And many of the ones complaining think of them as pets not for eating. It's sad. But it just seems like the hatcheries are having a problem training their people how to sex a chick...
I am hearing alot of complaints that when paying more for pullets they are getting more than their share of roosters. It like they bought straight run. But didn't. Shouldn't a hatchery be held responsible if you get like 7 roosters out 10 chicks? I personally only buy color sexed chicks to avoid...
You are not weird. And I understand your feelings. Not sure this will help. But I feel that there was less stress for your guys putting them down at their home than hauling them to the auction stuffed in a cage. Then taken away meeting the same fate. It's one of the reasons I don't want to hatch...
I like my Red Stars
Can't get much friendlier than chickens that get stepped on because they won't get out of the way. They also lay alot of large brown eggs.
I added the breed of mine in a reply and it messed up how the original photo was displayed. Wish I hadn't done that. I deleted the reply. The breed was EE, Banty, and white hen of unknown origins. Here he is as an adult.
Has anyone else had a hen (Redstar) that seems to just lay with out knowingly knowing it. She has slipped eggs out while on the roost. Or out in the yard. No rhyme or reason. Just opps!!! Radena!
