    Help please

    I had a broody hen who I moved into another hen house to put some fertile aracuna eggs under, another hen also in there was sitting on a cple of eggs (I had felt sorry for her, she has been brooding on nothing for a cple of months), anyway, the aracuna mum sat on the eggs for a cple of days...

    how long can eggs sit before they are non-viable ?

    I have a hen that constantly disappears to lay her eggs, she lays one a day for up to 12 days, then sits and pops out 3 weeks later with a full clutch! So I would say at least 12 days normal temp, longer if cooler. Cheers Sally

I have put some fertile eggs under one of my broody hens, she sat on them for a day, then I made the mistake of putting an old silkie rooster that has been ousted from the big hen house in with her to dry...
