    Chicken has hatched now. I am pleased it wasn't an assisted hatch. I am picking the chicken might of been confused or something. I have no other explanation for it..... Always learning something new.

    Yay I thought your pullet would settle down. I've got a young pullet whose system is glitching at the moment. Every second day she is laying 2 eggs one after the other. The two she layed yesterday had thin shells and had a spot on there side where they looked like they had touched on there way...

    I will say this. Please don't beat yourself up over this. These things happen. I'm not sure if I'll be much help as haven't had this happen but I think culling injured chick is for the best. The other you will probably have to wait and see.

    They all looked to have been drbeaked. It's a procedure that hatcheries do to stop chicks injurying each other. They will be fine.

    Thanks for the reply. I was thinking he was a male. But was a little unsure as I'm not really sure who his dad is. I had a Barred rock male but because he was quite aggressive I hadn't wanted to breed from him. He got moved on. I thought I had incubated eggs from my leghorn male. But maybe not...
