I have been raising Chickens since I was about twelve or thirteen. Of "primary importance" is that yjour coop be built very tight to eliminate any possibility of Rodents entering it. Mine is designed that way. A field mouse can squeeze through a hole about 1/2" square so I have heard. I don't...
Thank you all for your help. Our chickens love the dried meal worms, but not the Guineas. And there is definitely one who doesn't easily go in the coop that I suspect is being bullied as the smallest. They keep it on the outside of the eating area too until they have had their fill. I think...
We have 13 chickens (hens), and 5 Male Guineas. 4 all came together as chicks, and the one clearly in charge is an older male. We have them in a coop separate from the chickens, and I am wondering what I can give them as a treat to entice them into the coop quickly at night. The chickens jump...

I suppose that is a possiblity....we searched all around the area for the missing before nightfall, but they would normally come back to the coop by dusk. I would hate to think they came back and we didn't know it. :-(
We live just outside Ithaca NY, and the neighbors dog did the first killing. Going to get a trail cam I think so we can at least turn the dog owner in for not keeping his dogs on his land. What kind of fencing do you have for your outdoor pen?
This is very strange. Something got into our chickens in their outdoor run in broad daylight yesterday. 1 girl dead in the yard, 3 more missing, and piles of feathers here and there. This morning I go out to check the remaining ladies in the coop, and there a 2 mostly eaten but with heads...
Yesterday we found one of our female Guinea Hens dead in their cage, today another is listless and has diarrhea. It has been very hot and humid, but not sure what else could be wrong.
