It is pouring down rain here in Tucson, so I went and pulled the tarp over the run to help the chickens not get wet..
While there, I just for grins opened the egg box... and I had two eggs! My Black Australorps are the only ones with red combs and waddles so, I assume they are the ones that...
I am now able to have chickens again! But since Cherokee wasn't raised with them, I have had a time
getting him to settle down and not do big "play postures" at the chickens.
Well, last week I told him "These are Cherokee's chickens. You need to watch them and be nice to them."
Who knew that was...
Oh believe me this fellow also has a very strong sin nature! His manifests more in rebellion to things he is asked to do, even when it is something he should want to do! Even with high value treats, he could care less! Every other dog I have had will be very obedient for a nice treat, not him!
So far at least, he has never taken anything off the counters or tables. I even pointed to that bit of meat, as if to give permission, but he wouldn't touch it. I am glad to see that. Must mean he knows it is a forbidden thing to do.
Whenever we had leftover meat scraps, I freeze them in small amounts on a cookie sheet. And then store them in a ziplock bag in the freezer. Then I can add one to Cherokee's dinner each night.
I got the series of photos above while doing this. Cherokee was so funny... He wouldn't touch...

For the next few weeks they will need a heat lamp at night to keep them warm.Thankfully this time of year the coop stays nice and warm during the day.
They...
I looked up the Lamu beds. Those are very nice. I did get an old head and foot board for free a few months ago. I need to cut it down and build a seat. And paint it. Here are some photos of the bed I have.

Close up on posts.

I haven't decided...
Well, it is Jan. 18th 20016 and I have started to rebuild Glenn Cottage Eggery!
Yesterday I put in a new patio area for watching Chicken TV.
I hope to put a bench much like this one in that area.
This morning I started putting my chicken run closest to the back door back together. And...
Here, it took getting a group of people organized, and to support not just chicken keeping, but Urban Agriculture. We had a few people that opposed this idea for a long time, and they had the ears of the City Council. What happened here started with a "CLOSED GROUP" Facebook Page. There are...
After a 5 year long battle with a few "Chicken/Urban Agriculture Haters" we finally tonight got a unanimous vote from the city council to make amendments to our current zoning laws!
YES!!! I can get chickens again now...
