Thank you! I believe my digital one isn't water proof, but I can certainly do this with the mercury one. It's interesting that it says that mercury therms don't work well on their sides, though not much I can do about that in my teeny tiny incubator.
There is a small fan yes
Hi everyone, hope everyone is getting on alright with all that's going on! I'm currently expecting some Call Ducks! (Hopefully)
I have questions about thermometer placement inside my brinsea mini eco. This is an old incubator that I've had from about 2016, but this is only the second time I've...
Hi everyone, I’m in need of some advice as this is my first set of ducklings that I’ve let my ducks raise themselves. These ducks are very recent editions to the flock, I've had them just over a month (they didn't waste any time getting comfortable!) and they haven't really warmed up to humans...
I have a 5 year old call duck, Maddy, she's always been a bit twitchy and nervous looking (I bought her last year). There are certain 'things' she has always done such as twitch her wings and her tail.
She has started falling backwards onto her back, however she can flip herself back over...
UPDATE:
No gaping today which is good! No difficulty breathing either.
She is quite a nervous duck, has been since I got her though she is getting more used to us as time goes by. At this moment she isn't twitching or fanning her tail, just sitting in the sun with the others like nothing...
Not an expert but with regards to his feathers, he might have a blocked oil gland. It's located near the back end by the tail. Might have to google a picture for the exact location, but if you part the feathers you should be able to see it. If you rub the feathers around it and then rub your...
She is kind of gaping in the video, but I'm pretty sure that's just her moving her food along in her system, she tends to scoff her food quickly because the drake can be a pain and chase her away. The twitching has been since I got her so I don't think they're related.
Short backstory:
The duck in question is a 3 year old call duck, which I bought a month or two ago. I introduced her to two existing ducks, a drake and a hen that are both a lot younger than her (roughly 9 months old). Both hens are laying, though not what I would call regularly
The possible...
This is an extremely late reply! Very sorry!
Turns out she was egg bound. I rushed her over to a friends house who managed to carefully 'excavate' a lot of yolk... but no egg shell. So I, like advised, kept her cosy in the bath and a few hours into the night she laid this rather crumpled...
I never really see him mating with her. He's aggressive with us though. Since we only have two of them I guess maybe she's taking more than she can handle. I've been feeding her 'Just Natural' Grower and maintenance. I did ask the shop attendant whether it's suitable for laying ducks, could that...
I've fenced it off for now. She hasn't started laying yet no. Though she keeps laying down as if she were going to. When she did lay down she pooped a tiny bit of diarrhoea, could that possibly be her trying to push an egg out? It crossed my mind that she may be having trouble with her first egg...
I have a female call duck, 7 months old, who hasn't started laying yet. She has one other companion who is completely fine.
She's showing signs of:
- lethargy
- loss of appetite
- laboured breathing
- a tiny bit of diarrhoea (but that may just be the rain watering it down)
- she just looks...
