According to this site, if the coloring on the head is "smudged" its a boy and if it has a defined V its usually a girl... But again...
If they are a Red Star (we call ours Golden Comet).. She lays every day. In the past 9 months since she started laying, she has taken only 5 days off... We worry when she does.. Enjoy the eggs!
Hoot is my favorite too.. She is very friendly. When they were in the classroom, the kids would hold them and most of them will come up and let us pet them... Hoot was an adorable chick... I should upload a picture of her.
They are all EE (or should be) except the grey. They were all born Feb 25-26 in my classroom.
Blackie's comb grew fast fast fast from the beginning. Which is why we think cockeral! Plus we think we have heard some crowing from him already.

It doesn't really matter to us what gender at this age.. but its more like a fun game of guessing... Which is a boy? Which is a girl? We are getting better at it but now you tell me what you think?
We hatched these guys in my classroom. (My students named them :)) They came from olive...
This batch I didn't take pictures but the black one came from an olive green egg and the white chick came from a more turquoise egg. The other two came from a brown egg.

I'm not too concerned but I like to guess what gender my chicks are. I know most of the breeds and I'm almost positive on one...
But here goes.
Chick 1- Black Ameraucana- 6 weeks old. now/ First picture is 1 day old.. 2nd is 6 weeks.
We are hoping she is a she, because we have a male...
