Okay yesterday my sister saved a baby chick from her dog, the thing is she lives in town so for me its kinda hard to believe that there were chicks there, she said she even saw more. The chick is real small and I want to know what type it is.
So Definitely took out the two older eggs she had, no chicks. well, theyre was some development but looks like they died within the first week.
I think I'm going go ahead and crack the rest of her eggs, they are on day 22 and still no pips...
ETA: just cracked upon all five other eggs, all...
okay so today was day 21 for my broody, she is setting on seven eggs, so far so good. but still no chicks hatching! does it sometimes take an extra day or is there a bigger problem?
thanks!
The buff orps have a higher chance of going broody, but any of the other breeds you have could go broody too, but that just depends on chance. maybe you could buy or borrow a silkie to do some hatching?
sorry to say I never got the chance to candle them... gotta confess I went to the midnight showing of transformers instead.. bad chicken mommy right? haha
I will for sure be candling tonight though...
