I'm so leary of giving shots for that reason. I can get her to drink the stuff probably but then I read it could hurt their throat and that scares me too! I have the Tylan 200 now. The Tylan 50 at the store was beyond expired! I think I'll do the "watch and see" approach for now. She's eating...
She's good right now. It's happened before and like I said, it's come and gone really fast and it was like nothing was wrong. I think I will let her free range in the tractor and watch it.
Since I put some more Vet RX under her wings and around her nostrils and put her back in the pet taxi I haven't heard her cough since. That was after 1 and she was ok at 5 a.m. when I checked on her. I will probably try to give her some Tylan injections today. If I can get the right needle at...
She slept without a sound from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and then I heard her sneeze a couple times and it woke me up. I put some more Vet RX around her nostrils and under her wings. I might try to give the Tylan orally tomorrow. Someone said you can just give it via a syringe and let her swallow on her...
She seems to have stopped for a bit. Hopefully she'll be over it and go to sleep. I got on another site on FB and they said to give her Tylan shots for 5 days.
I went out to the coop around 7:30 and found my favorite girl Margy had this weird cough/gurgle that she's had 3 times now. The first two times I caught her with it, I would bring her in, put some Vet RX on her nostrils, combs and wattles and feed her some people food and she'd get over it right...
Clostridium Perfringens is what I believe they had after reading Nambroth's post on another post. The vet prescribed Baytril for another hen but I didn't have enough of that to treat them all but I had Fish Mox on hand so I went with that.
I just had to give some of my girls amoxicillin. I had 500 mg capsules so I divided them up and put them in eggs or mixed it in with a tiny amount of tuna and they ate it right up.
Ok, I will give the amoxicillin a couple more days. It sucks that you can't buy anything to treat unless you go thru a vet now. I see the vet finally did call me back today at 11:40 but I was gone and my phone was on the charger. They never left a message. I'll have to call back and see what...
Thanks for the soil answer. I haven't read one thing on how or why it was contaminated. The one part of their run is covered and tarped in and that's nice and dry. The addition is wet so I will shut that part down until we get the roof tarped. Is that what causes it? The dampness? I have calls...
I posted on here the other day about my 4 chickens. Took one to the vet and they did a fecal and found 2 types of intestinal parasites. They also said she seemed to have a bit of fluid in her abdomen and drained a bit of that. I was told to worm my other chickens at home with fenbendazole and...
