I am willing to give whatever she needs to be happy and healthy so I guess she is just a little more high maintenance but I might try the crushed egg shells.
No she does not get supplement calcium I have four other females (two of the exact same age and they are fine) but I am looking into getting some from my feed store or where ever I have to get it. I have never had any issue the past four years with my other females not getting extra calcium...
Update: There was an egg in the pen tonight and she is the only one in the pen. (Don't know what kind of condition the egg is in) So either she passed it or was suffering from eversion or something else yesterday. Thank you to the ones who posted suggestions on what to do to help her.
I do...
Bring back this old topic but I am torn between this (eversion) and egg bound for my female duck right now. I know there is something in the Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks about the eversion but I don't have that book with me. How can I cure it if it is eversion instead of being egg-bound???
Her oviduct does not look good when I look at it and she won't eat. And just found out a friend of mines goose died today of being egg-bound so it is not looking good.
I gave her a bath in warm water but I am worried that she is not going to make it. Hopefully she can heal and be better. Is there anything else I can do for her?
Is it safe to handle her I do not want to break the egg inside of her if that is the problem. She is drinking and has a small amount of dischage in that area but I have not seen any waste come out of her and she eats little. She was just born last summer so this is her first laying season that...
My duck is having an issue I believe getting an egg out of her "system" and I was wondering what I can do for her without causing her any pain. She has been having difficulty all day and needs help. What can I do?
I have only seen a few pictures of Australian Spotted ducks.
Holddread's have pictures of a Green head Drake and Duck and of a Blue head Drake and Duck but only a Drake picture of a Silver Head.
Also can someone also show a clearer picture of the differences between the Green and Blue headed...
I know this was an old thread but I had some questions
Would this be considered blue head?
and would this be considered green head?
and here is the male
Thanks

Ducks can sort of go though menopause - the hormones change, they'll stop laying eggs, and sometimes they'll develop full-on male plumage, drake curl and all. But, they're still female.
That has to be it! Thanks!
She doesn't really have a ring around her neck and just recently she has been getting those green feathers and it also depends when the light hits them.
