Hi all - I hope someone can help. I have a 7 month old buff orpington who is showing signs of distress. She has been in her nesting box for 2 days now, feathers ruffled, and it looks like she is trying to push an egg out. Yesterday, I tried the warm water bath and then wrapping her in a towel...

    Sick Rooster

Not looking good. He's still holding on, but I feel I am just prolonging his agony. Having trouble breathing and have to squirt the fluid into his mouth with a syringe. I do this every 2-3 hours from 8 till 6. Forget about food. He still stands, but is wobbly. I was hoping to see an...

I have 11 chickies - cutest things I ever did see - and they are due start laying about now. They are only getting about 11 hours daylight. I know I am supposed to give 14 - 15 hours of light, using artificial light, to get eggs. I would rather let nature take it's course here, but wonder...

    Light for Layers

Hi! I am new to this chicken stuff! I have 11 chicks, all supposed to start laying mid-October. I have read they need 14-15 hours of light to lay. If I reduce the time, do they stop laying altogether or just lay fewer eggs? Thanks
