New to quail first time hatcher

Make a homemade incubator. So much cheaper and more reliable. I hatched 13/14 eggs this past time. I love the homemade one over any other incubator I have. I have a thread on here called homemade incubator. It tells, you step by step how to build it. Also there is a YouTube video. Costs 20$ and...

    Show me your quail pens!!!

Thank you. I have a smaller pen with 1/4" X 1/2 " wire for chicks also I spray ammonia on the legs to keep snakes out. It works well as the ammonia burns the snakes skin under their scales so,they stay away. I do appreciate the concern and I will remember that for, future pens.

Filing the beak can be done with a set of toe nail clippers. Clip the very tip. Also an Emory board. I use the Emory board as it seems to be the most gentle on the birds. I can't do the clipper it makes me nervous. Have you candled anymore eggs and have you tried the quick fix I told, you about?

Coturnix eggs not hatching or dying in egg after pipping.

Si don't clean the eggs at all. I've heard of,some cleaning them but have my most success on normal eggs. Uncleaned and natural has been my best hatches

    Marking quail eggs for incubator.

You can also use a sharpie. It does not effect the egg in anyway. I hope I answered all your questions, a pm is a private message. Simply click my name then click send private message.

No. Not the temperature only the humidity. And only the last 4 days

    Marking quail eggs for incubator.

Sorry. Got off topic if you don't have an auto turner, put an X on one side of the eggs towards the rounded end, then every day 3 times a day rotate the eggs, turn the egg until the X is facing down. Easy to do if,you turn it towards you, some people put an X on one side and an o on the other at...

    Marking quail eggs for incubator.

Ok, first things first, do you have an auto turner, if so, no need to mark the eggs, just put the "little" end down, the rounded end up, second the slowdown on the egg laying is due to a food change. That's normal. I recommend no layer at all. Hear me out. I feed all my quail starter mixed with...

Coturnix eggs not hatching or dying in egg after pipping.

Sounds to me like a serious humidity issue. I had same issue with a friend of mine. He was getting pips but then losing birds, I went to his house and readjusted his bator, my recommendation is 49% humidity first 14 days 65-70% last 4 days. Do not open the bator until the birds are hatched...

Messy, please post a picture of,the top of your incubator. I wanna see the display and all please. Hopefully I can help you recover before its to late, there are certain ways with certain incubators to have them adjust right. Also, the humidity for quail that I use is 49% first 14 days. When...

    Sick quail!!! Help please!

Being as its not solid anymore is a good, sign. Keep feeding her the slush and giving her water. Her system is kicking it out. It is green because whatever messed her up was green. The white ismwhat you want to see. Let me know,if,it turns black. Black is a bad sign and not what we are looking...
