We are in Colorado,and several neighbors go in together to purchase soy free, non-go, all organic feed in bulk. A large order works out to about the Same price as feed store pellets, and the chickens LOVE it! They gain weight better, too. Ifyiunwant more info let me know.
My cayuas are mothering machines! They each layed and hatched two batches last summer, and shared nesting time as a flock. They like really deep straw.
I set shipping pallets on the ground on either side of the wading pool. the ducks can swim but when they get out they don't spread mud all over because they drip dry onto the pallets. It is still wet under the pallets but the rest of the 20' x 20' enclosure stays fairly clean and dry. Note some...
On #5, I keep duck enclosure right next to the garden, so all the water I have to constantly change runs downhill straight to the corn. Corn takes a ton of fertilizer, too, which the ducks are happy to produce.
We're Ruffled Feathers Poultry, outside Monument and raise show silkies and a varied collection of larger laying hens, plus some Cayuga ducks. It's so nice to hear who else is local.
