Just bought five gorgeous hens from a girl who said they were "red pullet/RIR hens" and white leghorns. I've got a pair of white leghorns, and thought these girls are a bit big to be that...also, I've only spotted what I THINK is a white ear on one of them. So far, I've had only two brown eggs...
They've got the larger combs than the other white ones I've thought were leghorns, that's one check.
They've got the white earlobes ya'll have told me to look for...that's another check.
They're white (a little dirty from their dirt bathing) but generally white...check numero tres.
Their legs...
Boy means 'yay'!! He's exactly what I was looking for in a polish!! I just wasn't patient enough to wait and see if he started to act like a rooster. So I came here instead. :)
Yay on the white silkies being a trio!! Unfortunately, I can't get any more pics of the gray one as he doesn't live with me. But here's another shot I already had on my phone:
Excuse me...sorry to not be specific enough. I knew that there could be lavender anything; but I assumed that they were orpingtons. I wasn't sure if they looked full enough to be orpington or not...if not, what breed do you think they are? They didn't come as a pair, I got them separately, and...
Thank you both...I haven't had her for a whole day yet, so not sure what color her eggs are. If she's not a Leghorn, what other breeds could she be? Are there any telltale signs for those?
