The pup needs to be exposed to the chickens at a young age
Just keep an eye on them a few pecks or getting flocked a few times is probably good for the pup

There are a lot of Different breeds, so you should be able to find one with the specific traits you are looking for. But training and the dogs personality are more important than the specific breed of LGD
