She’s im quite worried now. I’ve found her sat in the shed and in a puddle of what seems to be the inside of an egg. No shell. She had some membrane dangling from her cloaca. She is very inactive and quiet. Just sits down all day. She also seems to be clenching as if she’s trying to push...

Duckling filling air sac/ is that normal

The first of my duck eggs pipped this morning, it’s day 29. (I’ve hatched ducks lots so I know that it can take a long time) When I candled it I realised it was completely filling the air sac and I couldn’t shine the light in at all. Is that normal?

Pauses in incubation / turning eggs

I’m thinking about hatching duck eggs again soon. (I’ve got 4 ducks, 3 of which I hatched) The problem is that I have two houses due to work and spend half the week in each house. My incubator doesn’t have an automatic egg turner so I’m not sure what to do? Can I transport the eggs between the...

    Cats attacking my ducks

It’s definitely not a feral cat, in the Uk cats are allowed to go wherever they want. It’s someone’s pet so I’m not allowed to catch it.

    Cats attacking my ducks

Anytime we leave the house or at night we put them in the omlet. But during the day we usually let them free range around the garden, keeping an eye on them. We have bought various cat deterrents, one that shoots water and a sonar one. We also have a motion camera set up too. My worry is that...

    Cats attacking my ducks

Hi, We have recently moved house and have 4 ducks. There are quite a lot of cats around and most pay no interest in our ducks. But there is one, quite big cat, that is becoming more and more threatening. It’s ran at our ducks quite a few times and stalks them like prey. We have put lots of cat...
