Oh how wonderful, look at those little peeping sweethearts. Do you expect the other . . . 2, was it? . . . eggs to hatch? I guess they would have already if they were going to.
OK, that worked. I couldn't see much - the majority of the egg was just dark (these chicks were just on the verge of hatching), but I didn't see any movement at all. The one living chick isn't long for this world, I don't think. I'm trying to get up the courage to put her out of her misery...
From what I've read about incubating eggs, it seems like having the humidity just right is a big factor - I'm wondering why that doesn't seem to be a factor here. Doesn't sound like you have any source of humidity in there? Have they been hatching with no problem? How many are there now?
Actually, I didn't mean to post in here (am a brand new user, and not quite myself at the moment!) - I also posted in the Emergency section and have been getting some good advice there.
Thanks for the advice! I just tried to candle them, but I'm either not doing it right, or don't have a bright enough flashlight, but I can't see a thing. I also just took a temp reading with the thermometer right on top of the eggs, and it's at 102. Is that too high? I wonder if I just keep...
