They wouldn't be around small children, just 7-ish and older. No this isn't a wanted to buy ad, just trying to select a breed that would be good for my flock. And I've never looked too much in to orpingtons, any particular reason they are so great??

I am Looking for a well tempered rooster, any suggestions?? My flock consists of 5 hens that are roughly 6 months old and 1 fully grown hen. I need a Roo that will be good with kids and people.

Today when I went to let my girls out of their coop, I looked in and there was an egg. After I cleaned out their waterer, checked their food, ect. When I went in for the egg, it was gone! but one chicken was in the coop acting strange. I looked over and she had moved it and was eating the egg...

Don't the EE's have a fairly distinctive look? That was my first thought. But when I looked at pictures of them, none of my chickens seem to look quite like them.

I have 6 hens. 1 rhode island red, 2 black tailed buff marans, 1 dominique, 1 leghorn and 1 black copper maran. They are all fairly young and very friendly!

They look like rhode island reds or black tailed buff marans to me. I have one red and two marans and I thought my marans were reds until recently. It's so hard to tell until they are a little bit older!

I'm looking for a breed of rooster that would be good to show and will adapt well to the rest of my flock. I'm thinking Brahma or Delaware? any suggestions??

She was all black when she was a chick. As her feathers came in, her head gradually turned a reddish-gold color.
