thanks for the PAM suggestion-what a great idea!
her foot doesnt have any cuts on it at all and the toes and leg are straight but her pad between her 3 feet looks a bit red. We havent changed anything in over a year except they are staying indoors more because of the bitter cold maybe it is...
I have gotten a few lately with lines on the shells and thinner and thicker parts and rings as well
i could post a picture if needed
what is up with the variant thickness and lines/rings of eggshell on the eggs? it is interesting looking but i want my hens to be happy too-anyone know?
she is about 1 yr old but no signs of blood or cuts or even a broken foot-i am wondering if it is that bumblefoot i have read about
poor thing
i have 2 chickens they both are are going to being treated tomorrow for leg mites (thanks BYC! that treatment is the best!)
the one has been limping 2...
Probably the biggest ever from our Miss who didnt lay her first egg until she was 10 months old-the smaller egg is from our hen we got in April this year.
i started with hens last year - 2 hens
one layed within 8 weeks the other took 6 months to lay-e1 was telling me to return her/send her for soup
of course i couldnt do that!
be patient they are young
I have searched the boards some and would love a guide to whether or not a hen is eggbound (i unfortunately had to see some graphics that were disturbing during this search-but such is life in the wild right?)
anyone know of a site or a doc that describes the signs?
my new 2nd hen - she is...
hi all thanks for the advice!
i didnt see the "month" advice till recently-i quarant. the new hen for 1 night and we put a divider in the coop
second day they were sitting squished together under a shelter-they have been good since
not as close as the original 2 but they get along
thanks again-the pen we have the 2nd chicken in isnt as predator proof as the house lockup the "old" hen is in but it is on a platform and covered inside a coop that is fairly secure on the bottom and sides but something could dig under but that has never happened (yet anyway)
i really am sad...
