Chicken suddenly unable to walk, any advice?

Thonks for the suggestions. No new birds have been added - she is one of the two remaining hens we have had now for many years, so if it is Mareks, I was wondering how she could be exposed to it. It does seem a bit strange though. - she has not lost any weight, she's not lethargic, or anything...

Chicken suddenly unable to walk, any advice?

I thought her age was about 4 years old, but it turns out she's actually about 6 or 7. She's just been given some meat, she was having trouble 'connecting'with her food, and kept missing it although she still seemed quite alert ,eager to eat, and perked up more after finishing the meat. She...

Chicken suddenly unable to walk, any advice?

Thanks for the advice. She is reacting to light and her legs seem normal enough - as in she isn't doing the splits. We are going to try and give her some Vitamin B later on and see how she goes, and will keep updating.

Chicken suddenly unable to walk, any advice?

A couple of days ago, we noticed that one of our chickens was laying on the ground of the run, and wasn't getting up. We've set up a 'bed' for it in the wheelbarrow with some blankets, given it food and water, but it seems to have completely lost the use of its legs. Other than that it seems...

    Not good to feed

They can pretty much eat everything-as well as garlic. Its common to see garlic stated as toxic for chickens, but it can actually kill bad bacteria. They'll love a bone to peck at as well (avoid giving them small bones though. And bread, though I would be more careful about that. I would...

    Some help on pining ducklings

How old are the ducklings? Its best to pinion their wings at 12 days old.

Chickens dug up and cannabalized one of their own

All I can say is wow....sounds quite unusual to say the least! My chickens have eaten lizards and once, a frog before, but to think that they would go and dig up a chicken once it was buried sounds unusual. My guess is that it was uncovered my something before the chickens actually spotted it...

Pullets will not use dust bath

I find there is no point setting up a dust bath for my chickens. They will go where it suits them. However, if you do want to make one for then, then watch where their favorite resting place/dust bath area is and use that material to make your dust bath out of. Also, many chickens like...

How old before i can give scraps?

Anytime would be fine, but obviously it would be good to keep an eye on quantity of scraps (as David stated before). Also watch how big the size of the scraps you feed are, otherwise they will be too big for the chicks and will get wasted.

Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I'm not having a problem with mine right now, and it's always hot here. None of mine have molted this year at all actually. The last one of mine to molt looked shockers though... Lol they don't look pretty when they do!

Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

There's not much rain up here, only a light shower now and then. I find the weather varies so much here. One day it can be boiling hot, the next, nice and windy.
