Are any ones chicken only just moulting now?
Most people I have talked to say that their chickens moulted early this year because of the heat, but my chickens are only just starting now?!?
Yes, we have most of our mature flock in some stage of moult, not many eggs coming out way. Only one 'big girl' egg and one or two little blue eggs. Good thin is we have two new layers which have just started, so although they are small we are still getting enough.

My girls are all over the shop! Some starting to moult, some almost finishing, some have been moulting for AGES!!! I'm treating for lice today and spraying all the pens...
Ours are exactly the same, Our RIR has been on a forever moult and our two very reliable LS have only just started.

our two Ara's have pretty much finished and are just starting to be regular layers again.

Talking about your girls, chook. Do these look familiar?

I have had all my chooks on extra light in the mornings with lights on timers.
They still moult, but you still get quite a lot of eggs through winter.

I'm not having a problem with mine right now, and it's always hot here. None of mine have molted this year at all actually. The last one of mine to molt looked shockers though... Lol they don't look pretty when they do!

So where do people buy R-com incubators from in Australia? I'm in QLD but anywhere in Aus is ok

Only 2 places I can find that will supply them is from the UK (via eBay) and one other place in Aust (were I got a really rude response when I rang to ask a question, so I won't be dealing with them again!).

Anywhere else you bought yours?

Thank you

*edited name of company out cos I realised I was being just as rude by naming names...sorry

Satay,

We had monsoon rain up on the Northside. We finally got our run enclosed enough to let the girls out safely and they loved it. I arrived home from a quick trip to the shops, got the girls back in their coops and the heavens opened! I'm quite pleased that they didn't have a blow dry as well as their first day out. I also tried a bit of landscaping this morning & apparently my chickens haven't read the blog that says that they don't eat aromatic herbs and geraniums.

Hi there!
I got my R-COM 20 direct from P and T Poultry in the UK and I didn't have any problems. It was also cheaper even after postage. I got it within about two weeks as well which was great. I have used it many times since and it hasn't missed a beat so I'm very happy with their service. In my opinion you can't go wrong with an R-Com incubator. I love my R-Com 20, even though they are expensive they are definitely worth the investment. Here is a link to P and T Poultry. I would definitely recommend them. I have 2 friends that also bought their R-COM's from P and T poultry and they had no problems either. http://www.pandtpoultry.co.uk/index.php/fuseaction/shop.category/categoryid/84
