Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

You bet! In case you didn't see it there's a link to this water bath canning PDF on the dill bean page.

I have all the snow pea vines pulled out and drying out by the garden. There are quite a few pods left that I'm planning to get seeds from. And I got a lot of fresh dill heads picked and in the freezer, and mature dill heads drying so I can get some dill seeds.

Not so good news, I lost a chicken yesterday evening to a car on the road. The guy that hit it knocked on the door to let me know, which was nice of him. I told him not to worry about it. Guess my chickens won't be free ranging any more.
Ah, that is sad. Must have been one of the young ones too. They'd be the ones who don't have experience.

No, it was one of the New Hampshire teenagers, around 4.5 months old. I live just over a hilltop and cars coming over probably don't have a great view of the road. And some of them drive a lot faster than the speed limit.

That's one of the young ones to me. Thinking your old gals are too savvy by now. Anyway, no matter who it was, it's sad. I agree, driver probably didn't have a chance to stop.

I think you'll be okay as far as the frost goes, but wonder if they will get enough sunshine. Looking forward to seeing how that project goes, @Smokerbill .

I'm making pho broth today. I'll roast the bones, onion and aromatics, and then make it overnight in the crockpot. It's a great way to boost my weight loss. A few nights a week, I'll have a cup of broth and a salad. Diet is still breakfast sandwich at noon and dinner. No snacks. But I hit a plateau and have found the broth to be the perfect kick starter.

Also, we are trying to integrate Cooper again today. Been sitting out there for an hour watching them. So far two show downs and Cooper won both. If he can get dominance established so he can mate without being harassed by Ralphie, it just might work out. We are keeping an eye on them. Don't want to end up with an injured rooster.

We don't quite have enough hens for two roosters, at 15, but it's worth a try. I hate seeing Cooper on his own. They are social creatures, after all.

I'm glad you're trying to integrate Cooper into the flock again. Hope it works out this time. For now I'm going to keep the older hens around because I think it's good to have them around as teachers.

And it'll be good to have them around when the cockerels' hormones kick in, which I'm expecting to happen any time now. LOL
But I eventually plan on letting them go, if you're still interested at that time.

I plucked all the pods off the pea vines and have them drying on the back porch for next year's seeds. Dill's hanging to dry too. The kale and collards are getting close to setting out in the garden, but the cabbages need more time.
