Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I found a patch of eyebright yesterday evening. I'll mark the spot for no spring mowing. I've been getting more and more diversity in the front yard meadow area.

Probably about an acre of what I mow now gets patches to allow certain herbs to increase. I only mow when it gets too dry in summer to reduce fire risk.

Got the go ahead from hubby to put some willow cuttings in the low spot out front as well come spring. It has standing water at least 4 months of the year maybe 5 or 6 inches deep. The trees would remove that like they did out back. I really need to cut all the grass back along the streams and plant them there, too. Previous owner removed them all. Elderly neighbor told me all about it

What is eyebright? An herb? What is the flavor like?

No chickening going on here. DH is taking care of them. We made baklava today an I'm waiting on the oven. Smells divine in here.
You are a gourmet cook! That sounds good.

Air conditioner day here darn hot. Cleaned the coop tables and boards Refreshed the food and water.
Came in dumped the socks off, hair up ponytail now.
No AC here. I planned it out and left the house open all night, then closed it up this morning. Right now, 91 outside, 78 inside. It'll start cooling off soon and I'll open the windows again. Rinse and repeat.

I watered the garden this morning in anticipation of the heat. Got an 8 foot length of 6x6 remesh straightened and 2 t-posts pulled to make a trellis for my new planting of cucumbers. Picked a cuke. Cooking a zucchini. I don't work hard but I get things done here and there.

It's a medicinal traditionally use for respiratory issues and as an eye rinse. Hence the common name. Also good for an after sun skin rinse to help prevent sun damage.

Anything for the eyes needs to be sterile. That's easy enough to do with boiling.

It's a small plant

I've never seen that plant before to my best recollection. Is it native?
