    Sick chicken! Help!!!

A few weeks ago, my buff hen got a hurt leg. Not sure how it happened but I noticed her hopping around. I put her in an empty rabbit hutch to get her away from the others that were picking on her. A couple of weeks and some medicated water later, she began to walk on it again. I put her back in...

I went out to check on the flock today and found that one of my bantams was dead! ;( and the other bantam is very limp, just sitting with its eyes closed, and he was a little too cool to the touch. It only got down to 50 degrees last night (I live in coastal Georgia). I took him and put him in an...

Can my hen eat chick starter

I have two Rode Island Reds that are already laying, and I have them in a pin with nine younger chicks, (4-7 weeks old). I want my Rode Island Reds to keep producing eggs normally but don't know what to do about food. They need laying pellets, right? But that's not good for the younger chickens...

    What killed my chickens?

Do you have a trail camera? This is a great idea, although I have never used one for my chickens, I do use them for hunting, and you can catch anything red handed. When we complete our coop, I am going to put one up to see if the raccoons can get in.

    Roofing!

I live in South Georgia, and I live on the marsh. So, we get rain, but maybe only two or three times every two weeks. We have a few freezes during the Winter months, but nothing major.

I live in South Georgia, so we don't have harsh winters. However, it will freeze a few times out of the entire season.

    Roofing!

I am in the process of building my chicken coop and have an enclosed coop connected to a 10x13 run. Do I need a roof? Or can I just have a screen roof? We will make it predator proof either way, but I was wanting to know if you need a roof, like a tin roof, to keep them dry. Thanks

    raccoons!

I recently build a hen house and am raising a few hens. I live on the marsh and when the sun goes down, the raccoons come out! there is absolutely no doubt that they will try to get into the coop, but we have built it in a very secure fashion. This is what I would like to know: I want to be...

How many chickens can I keep in my coop?

I have a coop/run, and need to know how many hens I can keep in it, (no roosters). The enclosed coop is 4' x 8' and it is about 3 feet off of the ground. It is inside ( along the wall) of my run. The run is a total of 13 feet long, 11 feet wide, and 7 feet tall. I am housing rode island red hens...
