I found one of my hens yesterday with a prolapsed vent, I’m not sure how long it’s been like this. She’s 3 years old and I’m not sure if she’s still laying or not, because most of my hens are brown and I can’t tell which hen laid what egg. I found her yesterday afternoon and used prep h and...
I have a broody mama sitting on 4 eggs, 2 of them are from 3 days ago, one is from yesterday and the last is from today. Will mama reject the ones that hatch a few days later than the first 2 eggs?
He’s eating and drinking normally, and it doesn’t seem to be bothering him. He’s away from any roos to prevent any more damage too. How do I clean out his nostrils?
How worried should I be about this spot on my new guys beak? The woman I got him from said he’d only been fighting other roos. I got him about 3 weeks ago. The bottom of it is chipped. Will it heal?
This egg is on day 9 of incubation and it appears that there could be 2. Am I seeing things? The egg is no larger than the other bantam eggs in the incubator but they are not as far along so it’s hard to compare them.
Update: She's doing so much better now, the black specks are gone and she's much more active. Her wings are also not drooping anymore. I kept her inside during the cold snap we had and treated her for worms. After the first dose of worm treatment she perked up within 24 hours. Thank you to...
I’m currently deworming her, I’ve only had her for about 4 months and I dont think she was dewormed before. She has a pretty great appetite and has been drinking too
I’m not sure what’s going on with my girl, she’s been droopy, and originally her poop was milky brown. I brought her inside to keep an eye on her. It’s no longer milky and loose, but now it looks like there’s coffee grounds in it. I’ve also been monitoring my other chickens and checking and no...
I treated all of my chickens for coccidiosis 2 weeks ago when one of my hens started showing symptoms. After a week of treatment she was back to normal, but this morning it looks like everything I did was useless. She’s back to being droopy and listless. The difference though was the milky white...
I keep the boys in a separate coop because I don't have a good ratio of hens right now, but I know my dog got out one afternoon and chased some of them but I checked all of the girls and they were all fine. I found Rosie out on the porch with her leg splayed out beside her yesterday so I'm not...
We splinted it and she’s resting on a sling right now to keep pressure off of her legs. I feed them flock feed with optional eggshells because I have a mixed flock with a duck and several roos and she had just laid an egg when I found her this afternoon.
