Unfortunately no, I have not found an answer, and only after they molted were they "pretty" looking. My Bhrama has no neck feathers it seems, and one of our Golden sexlinks has been picked to the point where she is either exhibiting severe lowest pecking order behavior, or is ill. But all of...
Thanks! They are on pellet (18%protein feather fixer) and free range during the main day. We have a fenced backyard (good sized but still fenced) with groundcloth (and bark) covering every planter. I am surprised that they seem to find bugs as much as they do. Will look to see what we can do...
I recently finished a tape worm regiment for one of my girls in the beginning of July and there is evidence that she or someone else has tape worm (still or a new infestation). Since we don’t know who it is, we are going to treat everyone, but is it safe to treat my recently treated one so soon...
That was my first thought, but a couple of them were long and worm like looking. Not sure what worms in the eggs would actually look like, adult worms or juvenile but wanted to check.
Thanks. That is good to hear. I was stumped as to how she might have contracted it. Her crop is normal feeling and her breathe doesn't smell, nor is her comb abnormal coloring, so beyond the neck stretching and mouth gaping style, I am not sure what is going on. She did it a bunch early in the...
I am doing my second treatment of equimax for one of my girls and noticed another acting like she might have gapeworm. The whole flock is due to be wormed anyways, and I am trying to figure out if I can administer both the safeguard and equimax to the tapeworm bird or if that would be too much...
Unlikely. We don’t have anything like that and I have actively watched two of them peck at others breaking the feathers. I a, trying to get them to stop now!
i forgot to add they have calcium (oyster shells) available next to their feed and rare treats of mealworms. Their shafts are snapped in half. I have been giving them calf manna, but will shift the feed. Why does the layer hen feed have less protein than the chick feed?
Would chick feed be an issue for them during the summer months when it is hotter and they are laying? I haven’t heard of feather fixer or flock raiser. I will check those out. The feathers look broken in half, the shafts are still there at the base, and on most of the birds, it is one side of...
My one year olds have what seems like been pecking at each other. There doesn’t seem to be an order, but almost all of them are scrappy looking around their necks and or backs, no roosters here, their feed is layer crumble with what the bag says 16% crumble. When we discovered that our Brahma...
If you can’t see the straw mites/itch mites without a microscope, how can you tell if that is the culprit? I am having several girls with picked necks and backs and I can’t find evidence of mites.
