I've noticed that my girls find any citrus repellent.* A Meyer lemon tree or tangelo would be lovely and delicious! I think you'd just want to start with a tree mature enough - at least five gallons? I'm guessing the trace amount of citrus oil present in the leaves is what deters them.

There isn't much ventilation in the top portion. This concerned me being located in Florida. Even at night in the summer it remains HOT and HUMID - and then there's the rain to contend with.
This isn't to say that you couldn't make some modifications. If you do, I'd love to hear about them.

My seemingly-healthy six month old hen is making a honking noise with every breath. She is energetic, eating and drinking well, doesn't display any secretions of the mouth, eyes, or nose, and hasn't sneezed or coughed. The only other chickens she has been around are my other 5 and none of them...
I have a large, glass casserole dish that I fill with water every morning and set in a shady spot in their run. Throughout the day they'll wade through it to cool down. In conjunction with a big fan on the girls all day, and later directed across their roosting area, their panting and discomfort...
So many of the coops/runs that I see are featured on flat ground.
If your coop/run is situation on a hilly area or on an incline, I'd really like to see pictures of it and how you dealt with the change in gradient!
Any other hints on dealing with a change in gradient would be appreciated.
