So I have some crosses incubating right now.. The father is a white crested black polish and the moms are a buff orpington and a chocolate orpington.. Anyone have any similar crosses? I'm a little anxious to see what these little ones will look like!

Not even sure what to ask.

I have a mixed flock, mostly orpingtons. My question is this. Since the fall I have lost all 3 of my colored egg layers. We had a 30 degree temp change overnight when I lost my easter egger. We culled my amerucana last month, she had one ailment after another. She had a respiratory issue that...

    Somethings up with my flock

So my pics aren't uploading for some reason. It is a 6×8 amish built quaker style coop with 5 windows. My boyfriend did buy a new feed this go around and I'm wondering if that could be a problem? The girls have a dish on the side of oyster shells that they can get to if they would like. And...

    Somethings up with my flock

I had 12 chickens. In one coop is a Delaware Blue rooster (intimidates the girls) and in the other I had 5 buff orpington hens, an araucana hen and a Polish roo. On Friday I noticed the araucana and Polish were a little squatty and slow but I thought it was because the temp dropped 30° in a...

    Hawk help.

Well.. She's alive and doing well. I felt bad keeping her away from her friends so I kept her in the carrier in the coop.. Much to my surprise this morning I find that they let her out! She was standing there with everyone else ready to be let out with everyone else.

    Hawk help.

Thank you. I sprayed it with veterycin. It loops like his talon hooked under the skin and separated it from the muscle.. no puncture at all. She was acting like herself within 20 minutes. Now she's angry I separated her

I got a look at it.. no punctures but the skin has been spilt open and the muscle is exposed. She is acting fine, not too happy to be alone.

    Hawk help.

I just had my first hawk experience.. I was home when it happened so I was able to run out as soon as I heard the commotion. Everyone is accounted for but one is injured. She's bleeding from her breast area. I plan on bringing her inside at least over night to keep an eye on her.. I just need...

    Mystery roosting

My flock is a little eclectic lol. Herman and his perching partner were my first two birds, I rescued them together so I'm not surprised she's picking up his habit.

Very sure he's not being bullied. His girls definitely follow his lead and know he's in charge. I do put him in every night that I find him out there when I go to close up.

    Mystery roosting

The coop is 6 feet wide and 8 feet long with 7 birds. 5 buff orpington hens less than a year old, 1 easter egger and him. Tonight he actually recruited a partner...

    Mystery roosting

I have an 8 month old white crested black polish named Herman. He has been very good about getting into the coop at night ever since he was moved fromy the house to the coop. One night in September I went to lock everyone up and found him on a roost inside the run, not in the coop with everyone...
