What to do with baby roo?

I have a Brahma Roo who is fabulous both with the girls and with people. We used to have a bantam leghorn who had attitude. The Brahma used to defend me against the Leghorn when he got fiesty. He also managed him with concern to the others in the coop. We lost the leghorn over last summer...

    Broody Mama hatching late chicks

I have a brooder who will generally hatch a few chicks a year. She keeps them or him/her with her, keeps them warm, and protects them. She has a perfect track record. However, last night as the first snow and hard frost hit our area I heard little peeps from under her and this morning I woke...

5 day old tiny frizzle chick sick

I have a cochin bantam that hatched two frizzle chicks five days ago. From the start one was tiny- even compared to her hatch-mate (Spice) and she is very sick. Her name is Pumpkin. I put Mama and the baby chicks in a box in the back of our back coop which is in a separate room. (imagine...

Mice are taking over my house! Help!

I have cats that take care of the mice in the house, but I am worried about the greenhouse (where my chicken coop is). It is overrun with mice! I posted on another board and a gal told me that chickens are great mousers. Is this true? I would love if it is!

    I am so addicted.

I am merely a wanna-be-chic-aholic! I tried to order chicks from mm last month and they were backordered to almost July. We ended up ordering from My Pet Chicken because they were supposed to come sooner. Just found out they won't be here until the middle of June I have been checking our...

    I love my clothesline!

Too funny! I just got my clothesline put back after almost three years of renovations. I missed it so terribly! The first load I did were sheets, because I love how crisp and clean they feel when they are line dried!
