I wonder what breed he is? Now one year old. Quite sweet and protective, likes to find treats for his ladies :). Grayish legs, dark feathers in his tail and dark spots on the wings.
On the photo below together with another mystery - a lonely survivor of raccoon attack, she lay dark brown eggs...
I bought this sweet lady over a year ago - she was a lonely survivor of raccoon attack, owner had no idea what breed it is. She lay around 4 brown eggs a week.Is she a Welsummer? And another mystery - adopted baby chick changed into white rooster - what is it?
Hi,
my adopted from Animal Shelter white chick turned to be a beautiful Roo, as some of you suggested probably Austra White. And now he is 4 months old, already crowing so the only solution to keep him is to try a no-crow collar. He is not very big, not heavy (I would say 3 pounds) so I am...
And Wilson - grey legs, light brown eggs every day, black, almost greenish feathers, very little reddish around the neck - hard to see it. Very calm nature - the biggest and the lowest in rank between my Ladies (to my surprise!).
I was so sure it is a Black Sex Link Star .
It is not?
I started my adventure with my ladies half year ago when somebody posted on craigslist about lonely survivor of raccoon ride on the chicken coop. Koko is around 2 years old now, very friendly and calm, loves my kids, lay brown legs 6-7 times per week. Will you help me to recognize the breed...
Thanks for detailed info! I think my rooster is only 3.5 months old - he is smaller and lighter then my 4 months old Danish Leghorns - should I wait a bit longer before ordering collar? On the other hand I did notice his first attempts to crow - how long it normally takes when he starts...
I talked already to the officer from Animal Service and he was quite happy about the idea of putting collar on our chick. And if the collar will not work I will certainly have to give him back to Animal Shelter, so you don't have to be worried.
Any advises on collar?
The black one was sold as a Star - do you think is a Australorp? She is laying light brownish/creamy eggs every day and is very easy going and calm.
I checked White Plymouth Rock and they all seems to have yellowish legs when my has grey. Any other suggestions?
There is older Star (named Wilson) on the left, Rhode Island Red in front of the Rooster, and Danish Brown Leghorn near him (both born around mid Feb).
Hi, this is my first post here :). I bought 4 one day old chicks (Rhode Island Red and Danish Brown Leghorns) on Valentine Day, then few weeks later adopted slightly younger (maybe by 2 weeks) white chick from Animal Shelter. They are more or less 4 months old and white one turned to be a...
