Sexing via chick tail feathers? Is that a thing?

Eh I’ll keep watching as they develop. I crest sexed them following the guides after hatch. I’ll just keep collecting data and eventually be able to do it with confidence. They are about to move outside full time so no more obsessing over my bitties lol

Sexing via chick tail feathers? Is that a thing?

My 3 week old polish babies are out enjoying playtime and I noticed obvious differences in their tail feathers. They aren't old enough for sickle feathers but the shapes are quite obvious even with the 2 frizzle babies in pics 4 and 5. Is this a thing? I keep posting these guys as they grow as...

    Polish chicks color chart?

Another week past another set of pic updates. It is pouring here so they are stuck inside and not happy about it. We may have to add another outside gro-up pen for them since it is warmer out there then in here. They are all so beautiful that I am not looking forward to seeing who goes to...

    Polish chicks color chart?

I am going to keep updating this post so others can watch the development, we are in the ugly phase of balding old man heads and baby fluff coming off like a husky in spring. Today they had their first outdoor playdate in the dog crate next to the beginner coop. My older chicks are scared of...

    Polish chicks color chart?

The last gray chick throws me off. I Google a bunch but can’t find a laced blue for the polish so I guess I will wait and watch. The roos were white/ wcblue/wcblack but hens were mixed for colors so anything is possible.

    Polish chicks color chart?

Is there a color chart for polish chicks? I have 6 chicks hatched last Thursday from eggs I purchased online and am trying to figure out the colors they will be. I'm thinking the first 2 solid white, white crested black, white crested blue, white crested black frizzle, last one idk maybe a blue...

    Coop Training

I'm having the same issue with the bantams I just moved out. I've always locked babies in for a few weeks then opened the door and done. These little messes will not go in on their own. I'm on my 3x locking them in after this I give up! We have been calling it bantam brain.

    Guesses on 7week old bantams

My first time with bantams so would like others opinions that are used to these little things. First round of culling this weekend, but want second opinions on obvious roos before I make a boo boo. The silkies we will wait out most likely because I just dont get it. Praying the polish is a hen...

    Wyandotte and white cochin

Cockerels or pullets? I ordered all pullets but well nothing is perfect. About 6 weeks old. I'm pretty sure the wyandotte is a pullet she has one spike starting to come in on her comb but it is still nice and orange. The cochin has the only set of pink/red comb and waddles out of everyone but...

    Finally in their coop!

As long as she doesnt turn out to be a he is my only worry with her spunk. She has the reddest comb out of everyone but it is small so we are watching it. We figured the wyandotte would be top hen. She was fiesty when we first got her but has settled into middle of the pack. I agree with you-...
