Thanks. I assumed it was a rooster, but I thought it would be a good idea to confirm with people who know more about chickens than I do before we take it back.
I know they knock out food, today I realized how much food they have knocked out, it's quite a bit. :/ I'm going to try raising the feeder on some wood to make it harder for them to scratch at the feed.
The chicks are eating, the feed has small pieces as well as big ones, I'm just concerned...

I will try crushing the feed a bit and a raised feeder and see what happens. If they still seem to still be eating a lot, then I'll just go with it.

Ok, so I've been looking at some tractor coop designs to get ready to build a coop for my three chicks. My question is could chicken wire be used as flooring for the part of the coop that houses the chickens? I see people using linoleum as flooring, but no chicken wire, why is that?
