Hey,
I noticed no one has replied. I think you are doing the right things, if you can re-isolate him with a hen that might help with the depression and give him some more time to heal from the fight.
Good luck!

Thanks! I put a call into my vet and I'll let you all know what she recommends when I hear back. Dosing is the tricky part and with tapeworms, the prevention is confinement. My Silkies enjoy having the orchard to roam in and I can't imagine keeping them from eating bugs and insects they enjoy so...
Hey chicken lovers and experts,
I have to treat my flock for tapeworms and can not find a commercially available treatment for poultry. Hopefully there is something out there! Please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi Jeremy,
I'm in the midst of caring for my first prolapse, see my post from yesterday for all the gory details. In a nutshell, it is my first prolapse, I called the vet immediately and they wanted to see her. They cleaned her up, pushed things back in and sent her home, later that night it...
Thanks for your helpful posts everyone!
I'll start looking into the surgery. I hoping that if she gets through this healing process, there won't be another prolapse. If there is, I'll have to determine whether it's worth it to try the hysterectomy and of course if I can find a vet willing to...
Thanks everyone for your posts! It got some much needed smiles from them!
"Overrun with chickens" is right, I need to prevent her from laying eggs while she recovers from the prolapse. Poor little thing is living in my husband's office at the moment pretty much in the dark to hopefully stop...
Hi all,
I just posted about my chicken who had a bad prolapse. I went on-and-on about the traumatizing experience and then realized my question might be missed in the long post! So, here I'll try again:
Is there such a thing as chicken birth control?
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I had one of my spring partridge silkie hens begin laying this week and she prolapsed badly. I got a late start to day the and found her with the egg still attached with much of her insides hanging out with the egg. I gently removed the egg with the help of water so that nothing...
Thank you both for your responses! I'll do the dosing tonight and write back on her progress. I tried adding her picture as my signature, hopefully it will work, but I'm new to this site.
Ironically her name is "Dirty Bird" because she is a splash buff silkie and basically looks like a white...
Hello everyone,
I was hoping someone could reassure me or get me pointed in the right direction on this if I'm on the wrong path.
I have an adult silkie chicken with a persistent dirty butt. When I first noticed this, I found that she had a pretty bad lice infestation with significant nits on...
