Any one know what model Hova-Bator Incubator this is??

Ok, so some are saying remove both plugs now (incubation) and use the plugs for humidity control. Some are saying keep both plugs in (until lockdown). I'm guessing this is just a matter of opinion and what works for each. I guess I'll play around with it and see what works for me... This...

Any one know what model Hova-Bator Incubator this is??

Thanks again guys! So do you think I should remove one plug or both?? Seeing as the directions say to keep the plugs in, I'm listening to you all now. And thank you HorseLady, I was just curious as to which one it was.

Any one know what model Hova-Bator Incubator this is??

Okay now I'm confused. You think I should remove the plug?? Look at my second picture... It says right on the incubator, "Plug must be in place during incubation." And since I didn't have the plug I used tape, just like it says. You think I should uncover both of the holes?? If it has...

Any one know what model Hova-Bator Incubator this is??

Thanks Yiannisk. So I didn't mean I filled the actual "middle" (bc the water would go through the hole onto the floor). I fill the smaller channel you are talking about. But when I did this, the humidity went up to 75%. I have no idea why as I thought that was what I was supposed to do and...

Letting a Silkie hatch her eggs?

Thanks and yes that helps a lot!! I was wondering how many she could manage. She is a Silkie so she's not big. I do think she will stay on them though. Cool!! Thanks again!

Letting a Silkie hatch her eggs?

What is the bad part about letting a Silkie hatch her own eggs? I have 5 hens and 1 rooster. One of the hens is super broody and always has been. I have an incubator going right now, but can I let her hatch a few of her own eggs?? She is sitting on 2 right now. If I let her hatch on her...

Any one know what model Hova-Bator Incubator this is??

Thanks guys. Yep the fan is working just fine. I don't know why the humidity went up to 75% when I filled up only the middle reservoir (which is what I read you are supposed to do with Hova's for days 1-18). Now I've taken all of that water out and have resorted to a sponge and the humidity...

Any one know what model Hova-Bator Incubator this is??

Yeah, I'm sure of the manufacturer. If you click the 2nd picture I posted it says Hova-Bator Incubator. I'm so confused about humidity though bc I followed the directions of other Hova Bators and only filled up the middle reservoir and turned it on. The humidity went up to 75% and stayed there!!

Any one know what model Hova-Bator Incubator this is??

My sister picked this up at an Estate Sale. It's clean on the inside and the temp seems to be working and so is the egg turner. I'd like to try to use it but I'm seeing that people use different humidity levels for days 1-18 and days 19-21 depending on the model Hova-Bator. It doesn't have a...

Trying find reliable thermometer and hyrometer

I'm trying to find a thermometer and hygrometer that are reliable to put in my incubator. Every time I check Walmart, Target, Tractor Supply, etc. for either of these, they all range in degrees. For example, today I was in Tractor Supply, I looked at 4 of the EXACT same thermometer/hygrometers...

Hello, I'm in the upstate NY area (Syracuse) and I'm looking to add some paint Silkies to my Silkie flock. Does any have any paint Silkie chicks or hens for sale? I'll also consider a rooster if you have hens and/or chicks. Thanks!!

CherishHolland, Are you using the Corid? If so, is it liquid or powder (is one better than the other?)

    Chickens dying- please help!

Wow it certainly sounds like it's Coccidiosis as TenChicks said. I'm not going to let them free range for a while, incase it is something they are eating in my yard. Is there anything that could kill them anyone could think of that would kill?? In the meantime, I'm off to Tractor Supply to...

    Chickens dying- please help!

I've had my Silkies for a little over a year now. They have always been very healthy... UNTIL June 26, 2013 when I found one of my blue Silkies dead in the coop in the morning. It was not a predator as the coop was locked up and there was no blood and they couldn't get in unless they ripped...

    Silkie Breeding Question

Earlier this year, I purchased 6 white Silkie babies from a hatchery. Ends up, 4 are females and 2 are males. I am going to keep all females and only one of the males. He will be my only rooster for my entire flock of Silkies. Next year, when he is old enough, I hope to have some Silkies...
