I'm devastated to say that one of the two silkies I own was dragged from their kennel and eaten last night. I owned a hen and a rooster, the rooster was killed. The hen seems distressed and it just standing/sitting in one place. I don't know what to do with her.

My chickens sleep inside an insulated kennel and have been doing so for nearly a year. My hen goes into the plants to lay her eggs, in a little well hidden spot. It's 6:36 PM here and completely dark and she's sitting there, presumably keeping her eggs warm, and it doesn't seem like...
Some of the shells have dirt/markings on them that are very tough to clean off without risking damage. Would it be prudent not to consume these eggs, or to what extent should they be cleaned?
