I am frustrated and sad..... stupid rooster.

Thank you all for your comments. I wanted to let everyone know that Snow is fine, she healed well and all the girls are happy without a rooster. I wanted to comment on something My2butterflies said that I think may very well be what happened in my situation. Each time except for my first bad...

I am frustrated and sad..... stupid rooster.

I don't know what I am doing wrong.... if anything. Why are roosters so brutal? I have tried 3 sincere times over the course of approximately 9 years to have a rooster with my hens. Every time it has turned out bad. As a new chicken owner back then I raised some Easter Egger chicks and kept a...

Concerned, is this normal, 9 month hen molting in the middle of winter?!?!?!?!

Thanks everyone. It sure isn't the most convenient time but they are on their own schedule I suppose. Just knowing it's not unheard of and possible to molt at this inopportune time then I won't worry so much. Just hope the weather holds off being frigid til she gets her new warmth.

Concerned, is this normal, 9 month hen molting in the middle of winter?!?!?!?!

I have three 9 month old hens, they were laying really good but then I noticed that one of them stopped laying about 2 weeks ago, she is a solid white Easter Egger. The other two, both darker colored hens, slowed down some, I figure because of the cold weather. I started noticing white feathers...

Another EE now 11 1/2 weeks old, roo or pullet?

When I said I was excited to find out I had a roo in my bunch it was this one. He is a little looker I think. He has always been different and I thought I just had a really pretty pullet LOL but then I started thinking someone messed up on my 6 babies that were supposed to be pullets but I am...

Another EE now 11 1/2 weeks old, roo or pullet?

I was excited when I realized I had a roo out of my bunch that came from Rural King when it was supposed to be 6 little girls. But now I am looking at this one. Opinions?

Easter Egger, 10 weeks old, pullet or cockerel?

I noticed almost everyone responded that it's an EE cockerel. I know that there's a difference between EE's and actual Ameraucana's so I wonder why Rural King, Tractor Supply and our Co Op here in TN sells them under that name when they are actually EE's? I had titled my post with Ameraucana...

Easter Egger, 10 weeks old, pullet or cockerel?

Back in the summer I came on here looking in my area for a young EE roo with a couple hens to add to my flock. I can find single roo's but I didn't want to add a single bird to my ladies and cause issues. I haven't had a roo in years but wanted to try again. So alas, this wasn't planned. It...

Easter Egger, 10 weeks old, pullet or cockerel?

So, my daughter picked me up 6 little babies from Rural King 10 weeks ago. All supposedly female. Of the 6, one was smaller so I thought maybe the others were a few days older. It was much slower getting it's feathers at a slower pace even when it did start. It was always jumping in the others...

Looking for EE Roo in the East TN area.

Hey folks, I need a Cockeral or young roo, but I only want an Americauna or Easter Egger with the green legs. I have had several different breeds of chickens and I just really like the EE's best. I need a Roo to add with my girls. If you have an extra and it is close enough I would love to do...

    Traumatized chickens?

Thank you so so much for your responses. Sequel, your idea about making their food soft like oatmeal gave me an idea, they actually love oatmeal a lot! So I made them some and mashed up banana's in it which is something else they love. When I went out to check on them they were up on some...

    Traumatized chickens?

Hello Peeps! It's been a while since I have been here, busy with life and still having chickens. I built what my neighbors call a "chicken fort knox" with a small run and coop a few years back to keep them dry and safe at night. I do allow them to have a nice size fenced in backyard to run in...
